John W. Polley

Litchfield-John W. Polley, 89, of Huntington Hill Rd. passed away unexpectedly on January 16, 2006 at his residence.

He was born in Wales on April 14, 1916 the son of George and Eva (Ridley) Polley.

John enjoyed gardening, farming, raising chickens, and his ponies.

He was a self employed farmer most of his life. John also worked for Webster Rubber of Sabattus for many years, Maine Egg of Greene as a foreman and Giroux’s store in Wales as a manager.

John was predeceased by his parents and beloved wife Gwynneth Polley in 2001, granddaughter Patty Leavitt, brothers Ralph, Maurice, Forrest Polley, Blaine Mitchell, sisters Gertrude Wright, Beatrice McDonald and Mildred McDonald. Survivors include his daughters Sandra and husband Charles Anair of Mt. Vernon, Jackie and husband Peter Richards of Bowdoin, Sharon and husband Charles Gagnon of Van Buren, Bernita and husband Lawrence Hall of Litchfield, sons Donald and wife Lorry Polley of Wales, Douglas Polley of Litchfield, 20 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call from 6 to 8pm on Friday, January 20th at Kincer Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Litchfield Plains Cemetery in the spring.
