Mary Evelyn Heath Ackley Riske

Bowdoinham-M. Evelyn Heath Riske, 95, of Bay Rd. passed away Monday, September 18, 2006 at Freeport Nursing Home, Freeport

She was born in Bowdoinham on October 28, 1910 the daughter of Andrew and Mary (Webber) Heath. She was a life long resident of Bowdoinham.

In her early years she delivered mail from the rail road depot to the Bowdoinham Post Office and later on in her life she was a social worker for the State of Maine working in Bowdoinham and surrounding towns.

Evelyn was active in the Bowdoinham Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years, serving alongside her husband George E. Ackley who was Bowdoinham’s Fire Chief for 18 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star Electa Chapter #2 in Bowdoinham serving in the position of Esther for many years. She was also, a member of the Pythian Sisters, the Grange, and the Second Baptist Church. Evelyn was also the recipient of the Boston Post Cane.

She enjoyed being at home with family and friends.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, her first husband George E. Ackley and second husband W. Almon Riske, brothers Fred, Frank and Herbert Heath. She is survived by her sons John Ackley and his wife Marlene of Bowdoinham, Robert Ackley and his wife Anne of Topsham, 2 nieces of Cheryl Lord and her husband Steve, Sylvia Hultman and her husband Steve and their children all of Bowdoinham, nephew Clinton Heenie and his wife Rebecca of Litchfield and his children, grandchildren Scott Ackley and his wife Stephanie, Michael Ackley of Topsham, great grandchildren Joshua and MacKenzie Ackley of Freeport and Brian Ackley of Topsham.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, September 20th from 6 to 9pm at Kincer Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 21st at 1pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bayview Cemetery, Bowdoinham.
