Dorothea “Dottie” E. Hamlin

West Gardiner-Dorothea E. Hamlin, 91, of Old North Rd. and formerly of Dresden, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2007 after a long illness at Glenridge Nursing Home, Augusta.

She was born in Albion on November 18, 1915 the daughter of Linwood and Bertha (Storey) Abbott.

Dottie was educated in local schools and attended the Augusta School of Business.

She enjoyed tap dancing, gardening, reciting poems, singing, and playing the organ. Dottie also loved cooking and being with family.

Dottie worked for the State of Maine retiring in 2001 after a very long work history. She also worked on her farm and various shoe shops.

She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Lawrence Abbott, Francis Abbott, Charles Hayes, sisters Evelyn Tibbetts, Gwendolyn Abbott, Corus Paradis, Alice Bowdin, Jenny Henderson, Marilyn West, step children Marion Cram, Herbert Tibbetts, Harold Tibbetts, Roger Tibbetts, and grand son Franklin Sawyer.

Dottie is survived by her daughters Kathleen Mansir and husband Eugene of Pittston, Sharon Hinckley and husband Albert of West Gardiner, Pam Hill and husband Frank of Island Falls, Gordon Tibbetts and wife Pam of Alna, 13 grandchildren, numerous great and great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 4 to 7pm Friday, September, 21st at Kincer Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 22nd at 11am with a burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Dresden. A gathering will follow at the Apostolic Faith Ministries Brunswick Ave. Gardiner, Me.
