ALBERTA E. DORR

Augusta- Alberta Ella Dorr, age 85, of Dresden Maine passed away peacefully

September 28th at Gray Birch Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Facility.

Born February 20, 1922 in Dresden Maine, of parents Oscar and Leila Bailey,

she was the second of four children. "Bertie", as she was known by family and friends, attended Dresden schools.

Alberta was an avid knitter, who enjoyed making many afghans for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also loved dancing, photography and music, learning to play the piano later in life. She was remembered by her grandchildren as the family "SkipBo" champion. Her most favorite activity was any event that centered around her family, whether it be a birthday, holiday, or cookouts.

As a young women she worked at WT. Grants in Gardiner. She then was employed, for many years, with Margaret Smith's, in Randolph. She and her husband, Charles, retired early and spent winters in Florida until his death in 1998. As part of her love of knitting, Bertie's last employer was as a knitter for Christmas Cove Designs of Dresden.

Alberta was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles A Dorr, Sr., her parents - Oscar and Leila Bailey, and her brother: Norman "Biscuit" Bailey.

She is survived by her daughter: Dolores Hayes and husband Ron of Augusta, son: Charles A. Dorr, Jr. and his wife Judy of Boothbay, sister: Yvonne Reed and husband Gene of Dresden, brother: Malcolm Bailey and wife Priscilla of Randolph, sister -in­-law: Marion Bailey of Augusta, grandchildren: Lorica Cunmings and husband Gary of Bath, Danita Mailloux and husband Arthur of Richmond, Julie Shields and husband Wendell of Richmond, Craig Dorr of Dresden, and Shannon (Dorr) Flemming of Portland, many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A service will be held Friday - October 5, 2007 at 10 am at the Maine Veterans' Chapel, Civic Center Drive, Augusta, ME.
