Robert A. Hart

South Carolina-Robert “Bob” Arthur Hart of Fort Mill, S.C. passed on peacefully on Thursday, February 07, 2008 at Pineville Rehab and Living Center in Fort Mill, North Carolina after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born in Brunswick, Maine on March 12, 1935 the son of Leroy and Irene (Williams) Hart and was educated at Brunswick High School. He resided in the Topsham, Brunswick and Bowdoinham region before later relocating to the Florida and South Carolina area.

Before his retirement and illness he worked over the years for Granite Paving Co. Goodwin Chevrolet, The Freeport Inn and the Carriage House in North Carolina. He taught auto body repair at Vo-Tech in Leesburg, Florida where he was also an auto body shop manager at Lake Datsun.

He enjoyed roller skating, horseshoes, playing guitar and singing country music, and he enjoyed restoring automobiles. He loved coming to Maine in the summer and eating lobsters and seafood, hot dogs in the park, and going to Fatboy Drive-In Restaurant in Brunswick.

He was a hardworking, generous, and honest man who always had a smile for everyone. He was a devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather.

He was predeceased by 3 brothers, James, Donald, and Bernard Hart.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Barbara (Page) Hart of Fort Mill, S.C and their 8 children Cindy Breton of Lisbon, Candy Couture of Bowdoin, Lorna Hart of New Durham, NH, Robert Hart Jr. of Concord, NH, Rusty Hart of Inman SC, Michael Rockwell of Gorham, Forrest Rockwell of Fort Mill SC, and Lisa Altieri of Charlotte NC, 3 sisters Beverly Chesnutt of Las Vegas, NV, Ruth Favreau of Topsham and Joyce Klimko of Richmond, 2 brothers Richard Hart of Topsham and Roger Hart of Brunswick, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond, ME. Burial will take place in the Spring in Brunswick.
