Ronald M. Demeny

WISCASSET— Ronald Michael Demeny, 71, of Bradford Road, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at home after a delayed, but ultimately lost, battle with cancer.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1936, in Passaic, N.J., the son of Michael and Rose Tambor Demeny.

He had a happy childhood in Garfield, N.J., and always carried good memories of his life starting there.

In high school he became one of the football team's star players, but ultimately turned down a football scholarship to join the Navy after graduation in 1954.

Shortly thereafter, he decided to join ranks with Bath Iron Works, and ended up spending another 23 years of his life there before retiring there as a 1st class mechanic in July 2000.

He is survived by Natalie Demeny, his best friend and wife of 35 years; their son Ryan, of Alna, and his stepchildren, Norman Holbrook, Jill Holbrook-Peters, and Marji H Schoeneman; his son Michael of San Jose, Calif.; his daughters Mary Beaulieu of Westbrook and Julie Harlow of South Portland; his children with Jacqueline Jones Smith; and eight grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset this summer (his favorite time of the year).

Arrrangements are by Kincer Funeral Home in Richmond..
