Verona E. Lewis

Dresden – Verona “Roni” Elaine Pinkham Lewis, 80, of Dresden, died at her home on March 27th, 2008.

She was born in Richmond on January 29, 1928, the daughter of Edward C. and Mildred (Hodgdon) Pinkham.

Verona graduated from Richmond High School in 1945. She then married Melvin Lewis on August 7th, 1949.

She traveled for many years with her husband with the U. S. Air Force. They retired to Dresden in 1966. In her younger years she loved taking camping and fishing trips with her husband and children. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, reading, crafts, and crosswords. Her family and her Lord Jesus Christ were the center of her life. Verona was a lady of faith and prayer and had a beautiful, daily relationship with her Lord and Savior; she shared his love with others, and this was evident to all who knew and loved her. She was a member of Church of Christ, Augusta.

She is survived by her beloved husband Melvin; son Peter J. Lewis and wife Patty Sue of Dresden; daughter Deborah A. Lewis McAllister and husband Jeffrey of W. Bath; granddaughters Chelsie Irene and Kiara Elaine Lewis of Dresden, Rebekka A. McAllister Jackson and husband Aron of Charlotte, NC; grandson Justin M. McAllister of Norfolk, VA; great granddaughter Alaynah B. Jackson of Charlotte, NC; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers Edward C. Pinkham Jr. and Clayton N. Pinkham; and sister Annie Louise.

At Verona’s request services at the Maine Veteran’s Cemetery will be private.
