Arlene York

BATH-Arlene Bussell York, 85 of 1 King's Arms, Bath, ME died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Hill House, Bath, Maine with family and friends by her side.

She was born in Dresden, Maine on September 16, 1923, daughter of Leona Rachel McGrath Bussell and Alfred V. Bussell. She attended Bucksport and Brunswick High School. On March 10, 1941 she married Leland Stuart York and moved to Bath, ME. During the war she worked for Bath Iron Works, than Verney Mill in Brunswick, Congress Sportswear retiring in 1985. She later managed Goodwill of Bath before retiring again and volunteering at Goodwill of Bath after retirement.

She enjoyed traveling, camping, snowmobiling, family especially grandchildren and great grandchildren. She has made many friends over the years.

She was predeceased by her husband, Leland S. York on April 30, 1989; a daughter Delores Ann in 1944; and 3 sisters, Dorothy Freeman on December 12, 1998, Rita Norris on May 4, 2000 and Marjorie Leach on July 18, 2007.

She is survived by her daughter Marjorie and son-in-law James Robinson of Bath, a brother Alfred V Bussell, Jr of North Palm Beach, FL; two Granddaughters, Christina Sener and her husband Kenneth of Bath and Michele Pontbriand and her husband Robert of Colorado; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Catherine Sener of Bath; and one grandson, Cameron Pontbriand of Colorado; a niece Deborah Kloberdans and her husband David of Woolwich and a nephew, Donald Freeman and his wife Madelyn of Phippsburg

At her request, there will be no funeral. There will be a private memorial burial in Orland, Maine in the spring.
