Clive H. Douglas

Harpswell-Clive H. Douglas, 74, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 unexpectedly at Maine Medical Center, Portland.

He was born on Nov. 30. 1935 in Portland the son of David W. and Sarah Simpson Douglas and graduated from Brunswick High School class of 1955. He lived in Brunswick and retired in Harpswell.

He was a member of Durham Friends Meeting, Brunswick Masonic Lodge United AF & AM #8 and the Merriconeag Grange.

Clive worked as a first class engineer at Pejepscot Paper for over 29 years and at Bowdoin College as a mechanical coordinator until his retirement in 2004.

He enjoyed games and jaunts with Aunt Bee, playing cribbage, boating, tuna fishing, snowmobiling, hunting and spending time with family and friends.

Clive was known for being loving, kind, gentle and generous. He was a perfect craftsman and had the ability and talent to create and repair anything.

He was predeceased by parents and brother Russell S. Douglas. Clive is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth Palmer Douglas of Harpswell, daughters Elaine Buck of Bowdoinham, Carole Bouchard and husband Edward of Bowdoin and son Gregory Douglas and wife Pamela of Harpswell, grandchildren Catherine Preston, Sterling Douglas, Elizabeth Buck, Magean Bouchard, Whitney Boyd, Valarie Buck, Krystal Douglas, great grandchildren Colton Rice, Erin Aulman and Tristan Boyd.

A private family service will take place at the Durham Friends Meeting at 11am on Saturday, September 18th. A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, September 18th from 1pm to 4pm at the Brunswick Golf Club, River Rd. Brunswick for anyone who would like to attend.

A special thank you to his nephew, James R. Douglas for the additional 12 years of quality life he gave his Uncle Clive. The family would also like to thank all who loved him and the wonderful care he received at Maine Medical Center.
