James “Shadow” A. Porter Sr.

Bowdoinham-James A. Porter Sr., 68, of the White Rd. died on Monday, November 7, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 10, 1943 in Gray the son of Norman and Lucy Porter.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. Jim owned and operated his own plumbing and heating service and later his own truck driving business.

Jim enjoyed having an active social life, being involved with the American Legion, VFW, Eagles and Elks. He was also generous with cancer fund raising efforts and veteran services. He was a member of the Topsham American Legion Post 202, VFW, Eagles and Brunswick Elks Club.

Jim was predeceased by his parents and his wife Doreen Porter. He is survived by his son James Jr. and his wife Martha of Bowdoinham, daughter Ann Smith and her Husband Jason of Connecticut, brother Ken Porter and his wife Evelyn of Bowdoinham, sister Helen Low of South Carolina, grandchildren Michael Porter of Bowdoinham and Jessica Beaulieu of Brunswick, many nieces and Nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service on Friday, November 11th at 11am at Bay view cemetery in Bowdoinham with military honors. Following the service a celebration of his life will take place at the Topsham American Legion Post 202 on the Foreside Rd.
