Kathryn "Kay" Schools

Kathryn Schools picRICHMOND – Kathryn “Kay” Schools, 80, passed away January 10, 2018, following complications from ovarian cancer surgery, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, Auburn.

 

Kay was born on December 28, 1937, in Gardiner, the daughter of Wendell and Irene (Thrower) Hudson.  She was a graduate of Gardiner High School and became the wife of George Schools, Jr. in 1956.  She was an avid fan of all sports and enjoyed watching her three sons play soccer, basketball, and baseball throughout their high school years.  She was a Red Sox fan and never missed a Sunday afternoon football game watching her favorite, Tom Brady.

 She always looked forward to her summer vacations with family at the Georgetown cottage on the ocean.  She loved her flower gardens and made beautiful arrangements that adorned the outside of her home.  Kay’s favorite holidays were Christmas and the Fourth of July where she welcomed family and friends for a day of fun and delicious food, especially her famous chocolate cream pie.  Kay retired at the age of 75 after working for many years at Clarostat Manufacturing. 

Kay was predeceased by her husband George Schools, Jr., son Randy Schools, and sister Ann Hudson.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Carol Schools of Richmond; dear sons Mark Schools and his wife Marcia of Richmond, Chris Schools and companion Lela of Vassalboro; special brother Jack Hudson and his wife Judi of Brunswick; sister-in-law Marilyn Schools of Connecticut; brother-in-law William O’Brien of Brunswick; and nieces and nephews. 

She leaves behind two very special young men in her life, grandsons Chad Schools of New Hampshire and Shane Schools of Litchfield.  She was a very special Gram and confidante to them.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the team of doctors and nurses in the special care unit at Maine Medical Center and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice.
