Sheila A. Skelton

Sheila Skelton picBOWDOIN – Sheila A. Skelton, 78, of Bowdoin passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Central Maine Medical Center. She was born December 6, 1939 in Farmingdale, Maine the daughter of Daniel and Julia (Williams) Pender.

Sheila attended Growstown School before going on to Brunswick High School. While working at Ernie's Drive In she met Floyd Skelton and they were married on June 8, 1956. They spent 57 years together before his passing on October 20, 2013.Together they made their home in Bowdoin where they raised their children. They enjoyed their summers at Seboomook Campground on Moosehead Lake.

Sheila started out working at local Shoe Shops in Bowdoinham before taking time to raise her children. She then spent several years working in the deli at Hannaford.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Floyd Skelton Sr, two children, Richard Alan Skelton and Leslie Howard Skelton, and siblings, Mary Ellen Dill, Norris Pender, and Terrence Pender.

She is survived by her sons, Floyd Jr. and his wife Wilena of Bowdoin; Perry of Bowdoinham; and Rodney and his wife Linda of Bowdoin; five grandchildren, Floyd III, Heather, Neil, Nathan, and Seth; two great grandchildren, Chyra, and Floyd IV; and three siblings, Daniel Pender Jr, Rusty Pender, and Barbara Sandelin. 

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sheila's memory to the Ronald McDonald House, 250 Brackett St, Portland, ME 04102.

Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday December 5th, from 6pm to 8pm and Thursday December 6th from 12pm to 2pm with a service to follow at 2pm at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St.. Richmond.
