Barbara A. Srock

Barbara Srock PicRichmond-Barbara A. Srock, 88, passed away unexpectedly on July 12, 2024 at Maine Medical Center, Portland.

She was born on October 27, 1935 in Providence Rhode Island the daughter of Louis and Laura Crescenzo.

Barbara was a member of the Dresden-Richmond United Methodist Church, Richmond Senior Center, Wiscasset Community Center, Bookies Book Club of Richmond, American legion Auxiliary,
and University of Maine Extension

Barbara attended St. Ann's Parochial School and Mt. Pleasant High School in Rhode Island.  She Studied Voice at Rhode Island Conservatory of Music. Associate and National Credentialing in Early Childhood Education.

She enjoyed being a member of Drum Church where she was a lay speaker and served on
various committees over the years, sang in the choir and coordinated the Prayer Shawl
Ministry, exercising at the Wiscasset Community Pool with her "swimming women" friends,
Weekly Bridge games, activities and events at the "Golden Oldies Senior Center. Also her flower
gardens and communing with nature and love of reading, eldercare prayer services,
volunteering at the Richmond Food Pantry, socializing with all her dear friends, (you know who
you are), shared times and trips with husband Larry especially our Fall Foliage trips and our mutual love of creation and all things associated with Nature. Through all our decades together sometimes
we walked side by side sometimes a step or two apart, love never runs in a straight path and
when our journey is over our hearts and ashes will be in their resting place together.

Barbara loved her family and times spent with her grandchildren, her son Bob her daughter
Laura and son David and son-in-law Mark, who has been more a son over these many years,
sharing family memories and humorous stories of their lives and growing up years was very
special and dear to her heart. There was much happiness and laughter when they all got
together and they always made her feel loved and valued. Barbara's stepchildren Wendy,
Tracy and Kelly lived with the family for a time and she holds many memories of them
growing up.

Barbara enjoyed many wonderful years working at Head Start. She taught in
various head Start classrooms and retired as Center Director and teacher of the Freeport Head
Start in 2000. Teaching young children was one of her greatest joys, she cherished and loved
every child who entered her classroom and delighted in shaping the children's first school
experiences. She was dedicated to going to work each day thinking of all the wonderful learning
experiences that were planned for the children and what fun they would have and the learning
that would take place. After retirement she worked at the Richmond Senior Center and the
Richmond Summer Recreation Program.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents Laura and Louis Crescenzo, Husband Larry Srock, sisters Grace 0' Agostino, and Marie Crescenzo and brother Paul Crescenzo, all of Rhode Island and her
grandchild Derek Less of Richmond Maine.

She is survived by son Robert Less and fiancée Ericka Turloe, of Waterville, daughter
Laura Kendrick and son-in-law Mark Kendrick of Richmond, son David Less and fiancée Tabitha
Brann of Augusta, grandchildren, Lorna (Kendrick), Eastwood of California, Glendon Kendrick,
Rob Less, and Lorisa Less, all of Richmond and six great grandchildren, she cherished her weekly visits with her great-grandson, Cyrus M. Kendrick, niece Kathleen Lapisky-Crescenzo, and nephew Paul Crescenzo of Rhode Island.

Srock & wife Monica of California, Kelly Srock of Mt Vernon, Randy Srock and fiancée' Sandy of
Chelsea.

A Celebration of life Service will be at the Dresden Richmond United Methodist Church  
121 Pleasant St, Richmond on Friday, Aug., 2nd at 11am. Burial will take place at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Civic Center Dr. Augusta, on Tuesday August 6th at noon.
