Louis A. Ridgely, 94, of Bath, passed away peacefully at home on May 20, 2026.
Born on October 6, 1931, Louis was the son of William B. Ridgely and Louise C. Ridgely. As Louis would say, he dedicated “26 years, 3 months and 3 days” of service to the United States Air Force before continuing his career with Coastal Economic Development. Later, he fulfilled a lifelong passion as owner of The Hobby Shoppe in Bath for 17 years.
Louis found joy in vegetable and blueberry gardening, building model airplanes, bird watching, genealogy, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was also a proud member of American Legion.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Louise Ridgely of West Friendship, Maryland; his brothers, Worthington and Daryl Ridgely of Maryland; his daughter, Merrie Ridgely; his great-granddaughter, Eliza Wullaert; and his son-in-law, William Burgus of Montana.
Louis is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 75 years, Virginia Ridgely of Bath, with whom he would have celebrated their anniversary on June 25th; his daughter Virginia Burgus of Montana; his daughter Suzanne Gray and her husband Randy of Richmond; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday May 27, 2026 at Kincer Funeral Home from 12:00-1:45, with a graveside service at Cotton Cemetery in Richmond starting at 2:00.
