Nancy Ann Lanoue was born September 18, 1938, in Boston, MA. She was the daughter of Arthur William Lanoue and Annie Stewart Lanoue, (Mower).
She died quietly at home July 11, 2026, surrounded by family after a short, hard battle with cancer. She was 87 but carried her joy and light-heartedness like a much younger woman. She was a faithful Catholic attending weekly St. Mary’s of Beverly, MA and after moving to Richmond for her final 5 years, she cherished the tiny Saint Ambrose church of Richmond, ME. She Married Edward Walsh and was his faithful wife until he passed away 5 years ago. She raised six daughters; June Blanchette, Laura Geary, Karen Weisman, Maureen Pelletier, Heidi Farris and Nancy Faulkner, and deeply enjoyed her 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren (4 of them on the way).
Nancy, “Mom” or “Gram” loved decorating in Beverly for Holidays and later in Richmond, ME where she had a display shed built and dreamed up fun themes around the year. She could be seen plowing through snow to put up valentine decorations to cheer Richmond mid-winter. She liked being part of Trunk or Treat and created elaborate set ups. She created and funded a parade float for Richmond Days and drafted her family and friends to help. She always wanted to make people smile, make people remember what is good and how blessed we are to live in this great country. She was active throughout her life from Jazzercize, Zumba and water aerobics to country line dancing just 5 weeks ago and up to this year has danced through every wedding with grace and fun.
She wrote and directed plays for church, her yacht club and even family holidays, drafting family to help. She brought joy and positivity to whatever group of which she was part. She sang a song lyric for any situation she was in and left a legacy of crazy songs too.
It’s impossible to record everything she did, everyone who knew her had different recollections, but all seem to agree, she was quirky, creative, deeply faithful to God, generous, faithful, ready with a joke wherever she went, just to freshen things up and bring a smile.
She used whatever she could to connect with family, checking in daily via Wordle and puzzles, just to be closer. She loved having as much of the huge family in one place and seemed energized by the chaos and happy sounds.
A reward of her beautiful heart, she wore a beautiful smile, even in the discomfort of her final days and she seemed grateful for every minute spent with her family.
She will be missed. She transferred her sense of humor and creativity to the next generation and that will live on. Goodbye Nancy, we honor you and carry your joy in our hearts.
