
Stephen Meyer Hatch died on July 24, 2026 at Augusta Maine General after a long illness. He was born, the youngest of three children, on May 16, 1956 to Harland and Dorothy (Meyer) Hatch of Bowdoin, Maine. He was educated in Bowdoin Schools, attended Brunswick High, and was a member of the first class to graduate from Mt. Ararat High School in 1974. He worked for many years in technical support for medical companies. He retired as an ITV tech from the University of Maine, Augusta.
Stephen, known to many of his friends as Satch, was a man of immense curiosity. He enjoyed travel, read copiously, and had a wealth of knowledge. His interests ranged from vintage military vehicles to the latest space shot. Music was a constant in his life, With his first wife, Linda Pervier, he was a familiar sight at concerts and performances. In 2011, he became a founding member of the band Pejepscot Station. Satch's guitar playing was a key engine in the band, which, when accompanied by long-time friend Ren Bernier on banjo, propelled the bands music with energy and drive. The band provided a place of hope and joy for him throughout the years of his battle with illness. He joined the band for practice sessions and gigs as often as his health allowed. Playing with the band was a bright spot in his life to which he always looked forward.
In 2013, Stephen married Son Ye Caron and became an instant step-father to three grown sons, and step-grandfather to five children under the age of ten. Stephen found great joy in his new family. He particularly cherished his wife, Son Ye, caring for her self-lessly.
Stephen was predeceased by his former wife, Linda, with whom he maintained a life-long friendship. He is survived by his wife, Son Ye, step-sons and their wives, and step-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother David, sister Gwenda, and a multitude of friends. At his request there will be no formal funeral services, but a celebration of life is planned for a later date.
